SIGMA STUDY
Management of Staple line/ AnastomotIc Leak after Bariatric and Metabolic SurGery:
A TUGS Multinational, Audit (The SIGMA Study)
STUDY OBJECTIVES
1) Primary outcome measure is to understand 30-day and 90-day morbidity and mortality of gastrointestinal leaks (staple line leaks or anastomotic leaks or leaks due to gastrointestinal tract injury) following any bariatric surgery (primary and revisional)

2) Secondary outcome measures are to i) Identify factors associated with primary outcome measure and ii) understand variations in management of this condition and identify best practice if possible
INCLUSION CRITERIA
1) All consecutive adult patients (>/= 18 years) diagnosed with a staple line or anastomotic leak following a primary or revisional bariatric surgical procedure performed between 1st January and 31st December 2022 (Study date may be extended depending on the data collected)

2) Include patients with inadvertent gastrointestinal injury (as they can be difficult to differentiate from leaks)

3) Include patients who underwent any other surgery like cholecystectomy, hiatus hernia repair, ventral hernia repair etc. simultaneously
EXCLUSION CRITERIA
1) Patients whose primary or revisional bariatric surgery fell outside the above dates.
2) Patients <18 years of age.
