30-DAy Morbidity and Mortality of Emergency SuRgery fOr AbdoMinal HerniA

A TUGS Multinational Audit

STUDY OBJECTIVES

1) The primary objective is to find out the 30-day mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing emergency surgery for abdominal hernias

 

2) The secondary objective is to find out the factors associated with 30-day morbidity and mortality

INCLUSION CRITERIA

1) All consecutive patients undergoing emergency surgery for any abdominal hernia between 1st January 2022 and 30th June 2022 at your centre (The study date may be extended depending on the numbers recruited)

2) Include all types of abdominal hernia (such as inguinal hernia, femoral hernia, ventral hernia, umbilical/ paraumbilical hernia, epigastric hernia, incisional hernia, port site hernia, internal hernia as well as parastomal hernia and para-oesophageal hernia or diaphragmatic hernia. This list is not exhaustive)

3) Include emergency surgery for recurrent abdominal hernia

 

4) Adults (>/=18 years)

EXCLUSION CRITERIA

1) Patients who undergo elective or expedited abdominal hernia surgery

 

2) Patients <18 years of age.

AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA

1 patient's complete dataset = 1 collaborative authorship

10 patients' complete dataset = 1 named authorship
